Quote du jour/Jean and Lionel

Jean: Why are you reading Winnie-the-Pooh?
Lionel: I went to the library today.
Jean: You didn't tell me you went to the children's library.
Lionel: No, I got some other books as well. I've got more time for reading now so I thought I'd catch up on all the books I think I've read but actually haven't: Grapes of Wrath, Mill on the Floss, and Moby Dick.
Jean: Winnie-the-Pooh.
Lionel: Yeah.
Jean: Don't you think you're a bit old for that?
Lionel: I wouldn't like to think so.

Jean proceeds to read to Lionel from Winnie-the-Pooh and then says: Yes, you're right. Nobody's too old to read that. Can I read it when you're finished?

  2. I think I read Winnie the Pooh to my children for purely selfish reasons!

  3. Lovely. Yes, I simply must buy the boxed set. Lionel and Jean always make me smile and laugh.

  4. My photo wasn't very good but it was the best of the many I took, and I really wanted to show him giving her that tender kiss. And the look he has on his face just before he does it was wonderful. I own the whole set and am gradually watching it. When I finish, I will start all over again. Nothing I watch gives me such pleasure, nothing.

  6. I watched this only the other day!

And tonight I watched an episode whilst baking a cake - and, somehow, despite having had all the boxsets for about a year, I managed to find an episode I hadn't seen before! When they're filming the mini-series at Rocky's house. Oh, how I love this programme.

  8. have already posted about MRs Bale in another entry today but have to comment on this one as well. I only watched this recently too. My sister came to visit me a few weeks ago and told me she had only started watching As Time Goes By from series two and had never seen series one. Well, no guesses for what happened next. Kettle on, tea made, choc biscuits out and settle down. She loved it and as I had not seen Series one for at least a month or two (!) loved watching it with her. The episode when he checks in and out of the hotel is simply pricelss and his comments on the food when he is dining with Judith... well, wonderful. Just what is it about this series that I adore so much? Can anybody explain other than the obvious, it is just gorgeous
